Surrey Coaching Professionals

From where you are now to where you want to be

November Meeting 2009

What a great turnout with 3 new members and lots of energy and positive committment. Excellent start to the month!
We had some real insight from the exercise on perceptual positions and many commented that even situations that they had worked through in their head had gained in clarity and closure.  A very powerful tool to use with clients.
And next month come and relax for supper at Bar HaHA on Monday,December 7th.
With best wishes
Penelope

July 2009 Notes

Penelope, Philip, Padraig, Karen, Karen, Nathalie and new member, Rachel Hopkins attended. Clare and Elaine sent apologies. This month we voted to use the time for an open forum ( GROW model style) on the future of SCP and what we as members want to see and how we can get involved. Philip Harrisson attached a brief questionnaire to our email invites and these were helpful to get the views of absentees. Goal: Support Learning; Share development; Get feedback Personal goal: Business Development;Friendly, relaxed community Reality: A good starting base of committed members. Need more involvement and ownership of more members; Continuing CPD; Retain past members who may have moved on but are great role models, mentors for the less experienced. Options: Increase Coaching Academy presence and create a clear vision Will/Action: Define VISION We spent the last half hour on action planning to meet these objectives. Drinks and networking next month at HaHa. all welcome.

Notes from June Meeting

'For those who missed June's meeting, Nathalie and Padraig gave a superb demonstration of how Native American Wisdom of Life can be used in coaching in contemporary society.A great example of how we can use SCP to share ande expand our experiences in a really exciting way'

Monday April 6

Thank you to all members who made it to this meeting scheduled for an introduction to MBTI.  Penelope being stranded in Jersey meant an adaptation to networking and discussion of growing our Coaching circle in several ways.  The suggestions that arose will form the platform of our May meeting on the 11th .  Looking forward to seeing you there.
Regards
Penelope

March Meeting 2009

Congratulations to Philip Harrisson and his smooth management of a very interesting and well attended session!
Penelope,Philip,Elaine,Karen,Nathalie and Padraig joined by new members: Robert Bailey,Geoff Dodds, Annie Winfield and Karen Macphee.
Energising it was as we used the GROW model to identify what outcomes we wanted as coaches.Working in pairs we explored our experiences in  initial sessions with clients which  included contracts, confidentiality conflicts and coaching models. A lively discussion in plenary is now being followed up by shared resources of agreements used by several generous members. Thankyou.
We all agreed that it was a fruitful evening and embracing of key issues.  Also that 2 hours might suit us better.  Bar HaHa was adjourned to...

Notes From Meeting 12.01.09 A New Year!

WELCOME TO A NEW YEAR!

ATTENDEES:  Penelope Angus (2009 Coordinator) penelope@creatingmycareer.co.uk

Anita Scroccaro; Philip Harrisson, Elaine Garfitt, Frank Brown, Clare Collins, And welcome to new members, Nathalie Petit, Padraig Murphy.

Looking back to 2008 highlights and brainstorming 2009

Anita provided the group with a summary of what had happened at  SCP meetings in 2008.  These included three external speakers - Charlotte Hunter's husband, an accountant, provided tax information re: running a (coaching) business; Alex Stone came from Just Too Busy - a business, marketing and creative consultancy; and Karen Skidmore from CanDoCanBe spoke about understanding who your client actually is...including their inside leg measurement!  In addition, Anita said that there had been more structured training - for example, Penelope Angus ran a NLP outcomes session and Shiobhaun a session using the tool ' career anchors'.

Attendees then took it in turns to introduce themselves;  where they were on their coaching journey; and what they wanted from the network itself.  This was a useful exercise as it highlighted issues that as a network, we can take forward, namely:

1) Getting started re: practicalities of setting up a coaching business - Penelope said she would follow up with Surrey Business Link to see if they could provide a speaker on this, either in February or more likely October.

2) How to get clients / sales & marketing issues / targetting - Frank said he would provide a session on this (in March and September) and Elaine mentioned that she would also be attending a course on client acquisition and would share her findings.

3) Coaching tips / tools / techniques - Philip said he would provide a session on this (in February).

4) Complementary / niche development / personal development learning eg. spiritual coaching

5) How to get more network members?  Anita agreed to follow up with the current email contact list members to see if they were still interested in being part of the Surrey Coaching Professonials network.

See you on the  1st Monday in March ( 2nd) where February can happen, snow notwithstanding!!
